A delegation comprising representatives of the Islamic Development Bank’s Regional Hub Almaty for Projects paid a visit to Uzbekistan, during which discussions were initially held on the implementation of the Sustainable Rural Development Project and the Integrated Rural Development Project. The parties reviewed the progress and priorities related to procurement, the organization of works at infrastructure facilities, financial processes, social safeguards, and environmental aspects of the projects.
The Bank’s specialists also visited Shofirkon, Vobkent, and Kogon districts of Bukhara Region to observe the ongoing activities under the first-phase project, assess the organization of construction works at project sites, and gather feedback from local residents on the implementation of subprojects.
In particular, during the delegation’s visit to Shofirkon District, an opening ceremony was held for State Preschool Education Organization No. 20, with a capacity of 90 children, in the Tezguzar mahalla. Speakers at the ceremony highlighted the importance of the new educational facility for the mahalla, the conditions created for children to receive quality preschool education, and the role of such initiatives in shaping a better future for the younger generation. As part of the project, the delegation also inspected the installation of a drinking water supply network in Mirzoqul MCA. Local residents expressed their great appreciation for the improved access to clean drinking water, which they identified as one of their long-standing challenges.
The next destination was the Hajuvon and Mirvoshi mahallas of Vobkent District, where the delegation reviewed ongoing works at social and infrastructure facilities. The Bank’s specialists familiarized themselves with the rehabilitation works being carried out at general education schools and family polyclinics, as well as the construction of pedestrian walkways.
In Kogon District, the delegation examined the scale of the social infrastructure and irrigation facilities and assessed their potential positive impact on the living conditions and well-being of the local population.
