Internal Roads are being upgraded in mahallas across Shofirkon District

Under the Sustainable Rural Development Project, implemented with financial support from the Islamic Development Bank and the OPEC Fund for International Development, extensive efforts are underway in Shofirkon District, Bukhara Region, to improve living conditions, modernize mahalla infrastructure, and enhance rural settlements.

Particular attention is currently being paid to the asphalting of internal roads. Works are underway in the villages of Durmon, Qog‘oton, Qizilon, Qorabosh, Arablar, Chig‘atoy, and Boboatodara, covering a total of 4.5 kilometres of roads.

A total of UZS 2.286 billion has been allocated for these works. The new asphalt surfaces will provide residents with more convenient and safer travel conditions while improving the internal transport infrastructure of rural communities.

Quality road rehabilitation is particularly important because of its direct impact on residents’ everyday lives. Accordingly, improving road infrastructure is considered one of the Project’s key priorities.

In addition, UZS 6.261 billion was allocated for the renovation of General Education School No. 3 in Durmon village. Following the completion of the works, the renovated school building was commissioned.

Other infrastructure improvements under the Project include:
-    Construction of 15 kilometres of drinking water supply networks, with UZS 2.638 billion allocated for the works;
-    Installation of 6 transformer substations and construction of approximately 9 kilometres of electricity networks, funded with UZS 1.889 billion;
-    Construction of 2 kilometres of pedestrian walkways, with UZS 1 billion allocated;
-    Improvement of 1.5 kilometres of the irrigation system, funded with UZS 783 million.

At present, the main focus is on ensuring the quality completion of works to improve and asphalt internal roads that are essential to local residents.

Smooth, newly paved roads provide more than convenient travel. They are also an important factor in improving local infrastructure, enhancing residents’ well-being, and creating a modern appearance for rural settlements.
